Mexico City

Mexico City is an often overlooked destination as it is famous for being dangerous and polluted. The truth, however, is that Mexico City is rich with history, colonial architecture, and modern flair. The pollution is being curtailed and the city is a great place to explore. Our photos are a bit mural heavy (from inside the presidential palace), but once we get back to Mexico, surely we'll be able to get more outdoor shots to create a better image of this fantastic city.

Acapulco

Acapulco has lost the luster it once had as the destination prize for 90% of all 1980's game shows...for the most part it's not all that fabulous. However, a night at Los Flamingos Hotel is extraordinarily fabulous. It was once the hide-away for the Hollywood stars of the 50s and 60s and still maintains its retro-charm. However, our first night's lodging in Acapulco at the Hotel Queen Mary was more of a hide-away for drug dealers and criminals.

We arrived late and our dodgy taxi driver took us to a myraid of crappy hotels...this prison, I mean, hotel, is what we settled on.

Not sure if you can see the cigarette burns from this distance, but they're there at the Queen Mary.

Here's our room at Los Flamingos...that's more like it.

Los Flamingos pool.

Wi-fi in the lobby of Los Flamingos.

The story of Los Flamingos.

Johhny Weissmuller.

John Wayne.

Los Flamingos bar is famous as the best place to watch the sun set in Acapulco.

Sideways sunset....I'm too lazy to fix it right now.

So much food it's a challenge to finish it all...that's what the sign said, and that's what Mike did.

Oaxaca de Juarez

We didn't have too much time to really explore Oaxaca City and the surrounding sights as we were in a rush to get to the coast to go land shopping, but we still had a great time in the few days we were there.

Nice hair.

Mexican Einstein.

Puerto Escondido

There aren't many photos from Puerto Escondido as we were busy looking at property and then Mike got sick. But most importantly you can see pictures of the land we bought!

Out searching for sea turtles.

At the new homestead.

Our land....you'll have you use your imagination!

There's Bill's house.

I think he wants a kiss.

This man is out fishing by hand.

The house we rented from Jerry while in Puerto Escondido.

Zillion year old turtle at the turtle sanctuary.

Don't worry...they let him go.

Taxco

One of the first Spanish settlements in Mexico, Taxco is nestled high up in the mountains and is just about as charming of a city as they come. If you want to experience Spain in North America, this is the place to visit.
