Rio de Janeiro

We were really excited about coming here and it lived up to our expectations...the lay-out, the people, the weather, it's one of the best cities we've been to. We were blown away by the people walking round the inner city in their not-so-conservative beachwear...we are left to wonder if they wear those Speedos to church!

Paraty

Well preserved Portuguese colonial town, the entire centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was the main port for exporting Brazil's gold to Portugal.

Morretes

Morretes was a sleepy little town where the train dropped us off.

Bonus shot from the airplane...the nasty smog line of Sao Paolo!

Ilha do Mel (Honey Island)

We came to the island in search of wildlife. Most of the island is National Park and protected. We weren't disappointed, and the highlight was spotting a woodpecker on our last morning, making a house in a telephone pole!
